Goalkeeper

Brief info

Levis Opiyo is a highly rated shot-stopper who joined Wazito from Gor Mahia in the January 2021 transfer window. He is happy to be reunited with coach Kimanzi after working together at Mathare United in 2017.
“Wazito is a big team with ambition, and I am here to fight for my place in the team. To the fans, I want to assure them that I am here to give my best,” Opiyo said.
He has excellent reflexes for a big man, enjoys playing out from the back, and has the presence and personality when in goal.
He rose into the limelight while at Tetu High School when he featured in the 2010 and 2011 Safaricom Sakata Ball tournament and emerged as the best goalkeeper on both occasions. That led to his capture by Thika United and consequently his debut in the top flight.
He has also featured for Post Rangers, Western Stima, Mathare, Vihiga, City stars, and Gor Mahia.
The 25-year-old had a short stint in Germany in 2018 by playing for a club known Fortuna Babelsberg in the lower tier.
On his return, he was voted the best goalkeeper in the NSL 2019/2020 after helping City Stars earn promotion back to the Kenya Premier League.
His role models are Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen and City’s Ederson.
He made his full Wazito debut in the one nil loss against Tusker at Kasarani Annex.
